Here is the first of my Autumn Knits. I have finished it some time ago, but not have had the time to take pictures. But today I can show you the result.
The first garment I knitted for this autumn/winter season is Martin Storeys Ordie from the actual Rowan Magazine 56.
I have already talked about this design. It is number 2 of my this seasons Top Ten.
It is knitted in Rowan Yarns Tweed. This yarn is a 100% wool yarn and traditionally spun. You may first be afraid of this yarn. It doesn’t look soft on the ball. And yes, it is not that smooth like all the merino yarns out there. BUT this yarn produces a soft, warm and cozy garment. It is like a cloud in your hands. The nature of the yarn is adding depth and structure to your garment and you can even feel this texture.
Rowan Tweed is one of my favourite yarns to knit with and it also has a little brother Rowan Fine Tweed. And I promise it is as soft as his big brother.
Ordie by Martin Storey uses 8 vibrant shades of Rowan Tweed to show a striped tartan pattern, which is knitted using fair-isle technique.
Happy knitting everybody.
Oooh this is absolutely wonderful Konrad!
I too love Rowan’s tweed yarn & am a long time fan of all the tweeds they have produced over the years. It looks very splendid on you too!
Konrad, gorgeous! I love the Rowan Tweed yarns!
What a gorgeous sweater. You always knit the most beautiful designs. Thank you for telling me about Rowan Tweed. I’ve never used it and it’s nice to know it’s very soft after it’s knitted. I will try it!
Great sweater and it looks great on you! I love your knitting.
Wow, looks great Konrad. I love the colours you’ve chosen. I’m a great fan of the Tweed family. I’ve made a lovely dog coat for my chihuahua, and I’m now using Felted Tweed to knit the Nordic Throw in Martin Storey’s Easy Fairisle Knits, which is a great book.
Looks amazing Konrad! I’ve used fine tweed before and agree that it is soft and drapes very well
Looks lovely! Makes me finally want to get started on those Tweed Mitts from Marie Wallin!
Your jumper’s fabulous, Konrad!
