This brochure by Rowan Yarns which is published this year to feature Big Wool (100% wool), Creative Focus Worsted (75% wool, 25% alpaca) and Pure Wool Aran (100% super wash wool).
All 14 designs are by Martin Storey and the photos have been taken at Drift End, Peasenhall, Suffolk. Pioneer is an understated collection of Men’s and Womens Handknits inspired by the Pioneer look of the Mid West.
Almanac
This design is worked using Rowan Creative Focus Worsted. The fronts are worked in plain stockinette stitch. Using the intarsia technique there is a peacock feather on the back of this cardigan. It has drop shoulders and a knitted on front band.
Blanket
Using three colours of Rowan Creative Focus Worsted this women’s coat is knitted in fair-isle technique. It is showing a classic plaid pattern. The fringes at the sleeves and at the lower edge are picked up afterwards. It comes with a belt for the closure.
Crockett
Columns of cables and rows of garter stitch in a different colour are highlighting this sweater. It is knitting using Rowan Creative Focus Worsted and it comes in a womens and a mens version.
Dwell
This womens cardigan is knitted using Rowan Pure Wool Aran. It is featuring an all-over diamond cable pattern and pockets on both fronts. The button and button-hole band is knitted separately and seamed to the front opening.
Frontiersman
This cabled sweater with a high cosy neck is featuring a stunning cable pattern. It is knitted using Rowan Big Wool.
Hearth
This short sleeved pullover with a large roll back collar is knitted in plain stockinette stitch. It is knitted using Rowan Big Wool.
Homeland
This design is featuring an all-over cable pattern and is knitted in Rowan Big Wool, shown here in shade Reseda 069. Even the cuff and welt have a cable rib pattern.
Quilt
This stunning design is knitted using intarsia technique and is featuring Rowan Creative Focus Worsted in four colours. It comes in a womens and mens versions. The button and button-hole band are picked up at the front edgings, the collar is knitted separately and stitched in place around the neck edging.

Ranch
This design is knitted using Rowan Big Wool and is featuring a moss stitch pattern. This beautiful textured sweater has a cosy turn back collar and full length sleeves,.
Schooner
Knitted using Rowan Pure Wool Aran and stockinette stitch throughout, this sleeveless design is appropriate for the beginner knitter. The front band is picked up and knitted to the front edge of the cardigan.
Settler
This hooded cardigan for men is featuring cables and texture. It is knitted using Rowan Pure Wool Aran. Pockets and a separately knitted hood are highlights of this design. The button and button-hole bands are picked up at the front edges.

Shelter
This longer length cardigan is featuring a cable and textured stitch pattern, pockets and picked up bands. The collar is knitted separately and stitched to the neck edging. It is knitted using Rowan Pure Wool Aran, pictured here in shade Tough 696.

Woodcutter
This design with cable details on the sleeves and a checkerboard pattern on afterthought pockets is knitted using Rowan Creative Focus Worsted. The collar is knitted separately and stitched to the neck edgings. The front bands are picked up at the front edgings.
