In one of my last blogs I wrote about how easy it is to become a goddess. 12 stunning designs for women, using the fantastic to knit with Rowan All Seasons Chunky, designed by Marie Wallin, has been published by Rowan Yarns.
But what should men wear in this springtime?
Here is the answer. Rowan shows some magnificent designs for men in the latest Rowan Knitting & Crotchet Magazine 53 and in their new brochure Softknit Collection.
Let’s have a closer look at these designs today.
Carnaby
For all those who love colour and are fond of knitting fairisle technique, Martin Storey has designed a cardigan. Contrast edgings highlights the striking geometric pattern. Martin Storey used Rowan Siena 4ply (100% Mercerized Cotton) for this design. Carnaby is published in Rowan Knitting & Crotchet Magazine 53.

This design by Marie Wallin is suitable for beginners. It is knitted in the wonderful soft handle cotton yarn, Handknit Cotton. The yarn is machine washable and is perfect for all year round knitting. Pierre is a ribbed sweater with a bold contrasting stripe detail and shallow set in sleeves and definitely on my wish list!
Besides Pierre the picture shows also Mod, a design by Ruth Green. Both are published in Rowan Knitting & Crotched Magazine 53.

Ossie is a classic. Which men do not need a polo sweater? Marie Wallin chooses Cotton Glacé for this design. Suitable for the average knitter it is knitted in fairisle technique with a collar and a v neck. (Also on my wish list!, Oh my…)
Also shown in the picture is Lambretta, a design by Brandon Mably using Summerspun (50% Cotton, 50% Wool) and Wool Cotton (50% Cotton, 50% Merino Wool). Both designs are published in latest Rowan Knitting & Crotched Magazine 53.
The Softknit Collection
In this brochure Rowan is featuring their new summer yarn Softknit Cotton, which is available in 14 lovely shades. It is a wonderful soft yarn and it gives you the sensation of knitting with milk. It shows texture and cable detail and has a wonderful drape. Softknit Cotton has a chain construction and knits to the same gauge as Handknit Cotton. Fantastic designs for men. The one which I like best is Irishmaan with the cables. Never tried to knit cables. But this sweater is very interesting!
Rowan Cotton Glacé is one of my all time favourite Rowan Yarns. I’ve never knitted with Sienna – love Carnaby though !
