The last weeks it was cold outside here in Southern Germany. Winter has come back after springtime-temperatures in December. Who does really love winter, with its cold and all the snow?

To be true, the only good thing winter has for me is, that I am able to wear about 10 knitted sweaters and cardigans at one time. I hate winter.

In this dark and cold days (and nights) I decided to create a new design, that bring some hope and color in my life. So I started to go through my stash looking for a yarn, that is really appropriate for springtime.I wanted it to be a soft yarn and it should be a dk yarn and I looked for a color that warms me. Finally I choose a Rowan yarn: baby merino silk dk  in the shade sunflower. I guess this is the right color to bring back the sun and warmth.

I wanted to knit a cardigan, but I don’t want to knit it in plain stockinette stitch. I wanted an easy to follow pattern and  I found a really nice one, that goes well with the yarn. It produces lights and shadows and put depth to the knitting without being complicated. The silky yarn and its good stitch-definition brings the pattern to a nice result.

My new cardigan is almost ready and today spring has come back to Southern Germany. The temperature is rising and the snow is melting away. Spring is coming.

Look forward I designed my Sun Bearer Cardigan in different sizes from XXS to 2XL and it will soon be released as a free download on Ravelry. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Happy knitting, bringing back spring.
