Massa by Marie Wallin

This pattern by Marie Wallin is part of the Rowan Knitting & Crochet Magazine 57. Like Masotti by Martin Storey, which I have already talked about, is it a gift.

Marie Wallin used 12 different colours in this design. 6 shades of Rowan Cotton Glacé (100 % cotton) and 6 corresponding shades of Rowan Purelife Revive (36% recycled cotton, 36% recycled silk, 28% recycled viscose).

The stripes are formed alternating the yarns. After 2 rows of Cotton Glacé there are 2 rows of Purelife Revive. The colours are melting into each other. This melting effect is enhanced using moss stitch throughout the whole garment.

The back is knitted from bottom up, whereas the front is knitted sideways as an interesting design detail. The drop shoulder sleeves are knitted in the same pattern as the main body. A simple one row cast-off completes the neck-opening.
